Rio Olympics 2016

Hello bloggers

The Olympics have started and it has been awesome. Today I am going to tell you about the Olympics. Australia have started extremely well and we already have 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 9 bronze medals. It has been a great start to the Olympics and all countries are doing really well. The opening ceremony was amazing and it showed the way they believe their country was found. There are more than 11,000 athletes and 206 countries participating. This Olympics there are 306 events and 28 sports to compete in.

In the Rio Olympics Australia won two gold medals on the opening night. Mack Horton swam a significant 400 m freestyle and won gold. Emma Mckeon, Brittney Elmslie, Madison Wilson, Bronte Campbell and Cate Campbell were included in the 4 x 100 m Womens freestyle relay. The two races were floor less and they really deserved gold.

Go Australia 🙂

It has been a great start to the Olympics and I cant wait for more of it. 🙂

Melbourne Fire Brigade

On the 2nd of August 2016 all the year sixes participated in a fire and safety session. Firemen Lee and Mark, from the Melbourne Fire Brigade came to our school and taught us how to be safe when a fire is around.  Here are some facts we learnt.

  1. Never leave a stove unattended.
  2. If there is a fire in your house get down low and crawl out of the house until you are safe.
  3. Change the battery in your smoke alarm every year.
  4. Roll up your sleeves when you are cooking.
  5. Don’t overload your power board.
  6. Heaters should be two whole meters away from any object that could catch in fire.

We learned so much that this post could go on forever. So overall be aware of all that is around you and if you do see a fire please tell an adult and they will help you. We would like to thank the MFB for coming and explaining to us the importance of fire safety.

What did you learn from this post?
