“How are we called to care for our common home?”

This term we are learning about the environment.

Our rich or big question is “How are we called to care for our common home?”.This is a very interesting question.

The popes encyclical shows us that we need to care for our home. If we want to live in it then we have to care for it. We also need to cut down the limit of fossil fuels that we produce. Global warming is nearing and that is why we need to do this together.

This term we have done a lot on what we can do and here are some idea’s that you might consider:

  1. Solar power
  2. If you see rubbish anywhere PICK IT UP
  3. Try to be environmentally healthy
  4. Don’t be greedy
  5. Only take what you need
  6. Try to decrease your carbon footprint

I hope that you can do some of those things 🙂

For our PLT ( Personal Learning Task) for this term I am focusing and researching with Jasmine, about Global Warming. It is very serious topic and we need to consider it in our everyday lives. I enjoy working with jasmine and finding out more about global warming.

Jawbone Sanctuary was one of the massive highlights of our term (so far). It was a lot of walking but it was worth it, because we learned more than you imagine and we loved it. We got to see a lot of different plants and creatures that live in the salt marsh and the mangroves. For more information you can see my recent post on Jawbone Sanctuary.

This term as well as looking at the Catholic Social Teachings, we also looked at the Global Goals. They are goals that are set to accomplish by 2030.The goals sound a like, Climate Action or something like that.

Here are all of the Global Goals:

Jawbone Marine Sanctuary

On the 13th of November we went to The Jawbone Marine sanctuary. It was very fun looking at all of the different types or species of animals, flora and fauna of the sanctuary. All of the animals were very colourful. Here are some more information about our excursion.

I now understand that the sanctuary, used to be a place where people were shooting bullets and fighting, but when they noticed that the place was kept so clean they wanted it to stay that way forever.

I believe that the sanctuary was a place for bombing, shooting and fights.I also believe that we need to care for all sanctuaries so that they don’t die from the heat of global warming. Global warming can affect this problem that is why we need to STOP global warming if you want to see the beautiful animals in the sea.

I need to care for our common home because if we don’t  care we will let down the future and we will be the reason of them being really hot down below. You could:

  • Pick up rubbish that you find in the sanctuary
  • You could also be environmental friendly

Echidna

Hello Bloggers

We did a project on native and fully Australian Animals.

My learning has definitely changed when I researched this animal. It has change because I didn’t know much about the Echidna, even though it is not endangered we still need to care for the animals, otherwise they will be extinct. That is something that really stands out to me.

Some interesting facts on the Echidna are:

  • Echidna’s are born with no spikes
  • There are two types of echidna’s (Short and long-nosed )
  • They lay their eggs like a reptile
  • The baby Echidna is called a puggle

I learned a lot about others animals that they studied. Here are some things that I learned:

  • That the Pottaroo is only found in Australia
  • That the Echidna hunts at night
  • That the Pottaroo is 30cm-46cm
  • Cape Barren gooses live in the offshore islands to Australia

The people who were in my group were Mia, Jacob, Riley and Jack. I liked how we were listening to each others presentations and after the person presented, all of their information, they got to ask questions that they already answered, during the presentation to see if everyone was paying attention.

I enjoyed learning from others and sharing the information to others. I want to do it again.

Hope that you learned something new and do what you can to keep Echidna’s not endangered.

St Luke’s School Bye Annual Production

Hello Bloggers 🙂

This post is about our School Production and how it was a BLAST.

This production was held in the Besen center on the 29th of October 2015, the production was called “Beyond the Autumn Mist”. It was about Puff the magic dragon and him finding a place to belong, in different fairy tale land.

All of the classes had a fairy tale to perform as. Here are what the scenes where:

  1. Puff the magic dragon Choir
  2. Goldilocks (Prep K)
  3. Snow White (Middle C)
  4. Arial (Junior B)
  5. Rapunzel (Senior S)
  6. The Three Little Pigs (Prep S)
  7. Sleeping beauty (Senior MY)
  8. Aladdin (Junior KF)
  9. Cinderella (Senior G)
  10. Little Red Riding Hood (Middle V)
  11. The Battle (All Seniors)
  12. The Finale (Teachers)

We enjoyed every single bit of the production. I was in Scene 1, 9, 11 and 12.

I was a main role so I was in the main cast. I was the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. It was a lot of fun acting as Fairy Godmother and being pretty. I was also in my class dances called “Who’s that girl” and “Uptown Funk”.We all did really well and I enjoyed the dances. My Class dances were in the same scene as my Fairy Godmother lines.

Puff had a magical adventure around all of the lands of the fairy tales. In the last scene Puff the magic dragon found himself in a fairy tale after the whole production he found a place to belong. In the land of SHREK. With an unexpected appearance from the teachers at the very last scene. It was so funny because we were not expecting them to do they’re dance.

All of the rehearsals were AWESOME and I loved the costumes.

Thank you to all of those who help make the night possible we also really appreciate the work that you did.
